Vintage match packs registry reignites an old flame.
Philadelphia-based graphic designer Daniel Blackman has launched a new site devoted to cataloging the disappearing artifacts of a less oppressed, pre-smoking ban era. The Matchbook Registry aims to catalog matchbook design and typography, beginning with souvenirs collected by Blackman’s grandfather. The first flammable time capsules to be cataloged include examples from the Empress of China in San Francisco, the George Diamond Steak House in Chicago, Carmel, California’s Hogs Breath Inn, and Toronto’s Robot Lounge. Want to contribute to this worthy archive? Blackman is accepting submissions.
