The art-party season opens with a big auction-fete hospital benefit bang as the culture-minded group turns the big 10.
In Upper Chelsea this week, RxArt founder Diane Brown hosted a veritable who’s-who hoedown of the art and fashion worlds, with a Yoshitomo Nara going for $28K and an A-list turning out for the auction, including chairmen James Franco, Terry Richardson and Rob Pruitt, as well as Will Cotton, Scott Caan, Charlotte Ronson, a staggeringly-well putout Cynthia Rowley, her pompadour-ed hubby (and reality-show gallerist) Bill Powers, Stella and Lola Schnabel, and on. The non-profit foundation helps to place great contemporary works of art in hospitals and operating rooms around the country. The auction drew 300 bidders, and was a bit of a big hit for raising dollars for the art-minded group. We have to admit, though, that the catering by Callahan kind of stole the show. We’ve never seen or tasted such miniature and delicious grilled cheese bites in our lives! Dug those char-grilled mini-cheese burgers too. We didn’t walk with a Kiehl’s goodie bag, but we’re set all right for product at the moment, thank you. Nice to see the New York art world rocking it again!
