It's Tiki–Not 'Tini'–Time!

Out There

…because the original Trader Vic is but a memory of Merv.

Los Angeles is of course the spiritual home of the Tiki Bar–the very first was opened back in 1933 by Don the Beachcomber, a full three years before Trader Vic latched on. Now there’s a new reason to don a grass skirt – Tiki No just opened its doors in North Hollywood, complete with torches, flaming rum punch and booths with thatched roofs. The location may be a bit naff but that all fades away when you enter the dimly-lit space, kitted out by Bamboo Ben, a master of the genre. An indoor / outdoor fireplace, authentic carvings, the de rigeur ceramic mugs and even an occasional DJ spot by Elijah Wood mark it out as more than a passing fad. Worth the drive is our considered opinion. 4657 Lankershim Blvd. (at Kling), 818-766-0116
