Transcultural Pilgrim: Three Decades of Work by José Bedia

Art & Design

Recognized internationally as a leading artist from Latin America (and whose enigmatic, large-scale mural welcomes visitors into the Design District), José Bedia is currently showcasing a major career retrospective at the Miami Art Museum. For the last three decades, the Cuban artist has synthesized the culture and religious practices of primeval individuals native to the Americas, Africa, and Cuba, while taking a decidedly consecrated approach to creating artwork. The strong influence of his spiritual journeys sweeps across his imagery, bridging the gap between modern society and ancient world mystique. This exhibition features 35 works on paper and canvas, plus two big installations — a prime opportunity to view the oeuvre of a local master.
