Fat City fetes a decade of fancy drink making.
It’s not too late to dive in to this sophisticatedly dirty drinkathon, down in New Orleans, where 20,000 bartenders and booze hounds have landed to learn the latest in cocktail culture and just drink a lot of tasty beverages.
All this week, and ending this coming Sunday, ground zero is the Hotel Monteleone, which has recently added a gorgeous, respectful bar adjoining their famous revolving Carousel Bar, one of the homes of the Ramos Gin Fizz. Keep the shorts at home, and dress accordingly. The ambassadors are the guys from Cure, an Uptown cocktail bar that’s won international accolades from their renovated firehouse. It’s worth the trip there, as well, up on Freret Street, a new nightlife hub in the city that just keeps getting great new spots.
