Week Four: Thompson Toronto

Out There

Now that the high temps are here to stay, we’re ditching our desks and playing hookie. Who says Ferris gets to have all the fun? Put on your bathing suit, grab an ice-cold drink and mount up: we’ve got a red-letter day ahead of us.

Once we’ve arrived at Thompson Toronto, it’s a race to the room for us. The Thompson Suite (pictured below) is ours for the evening and all 1,150 square feet of it is calling our name,. With an infinity bathtub, marble floors, custom SFERRA linens and 270 degrees of stunning city views (are you drooling yet?), someone is going to have to drag us out of here.

To drink, dine or dip? All of the above.

Once we’ve pried ourselves from the armchair in our suite, on go our favorite trunks (yes, the ones with the tags that we’ve been saving since December) and we make our way to the über chic, sun-drenched retreat that sits above it all. With a Strawberry Smash in-hand,  we’ll be lounging poolside, bidding our worries farewell. Once the sun’s blistering rays bring us to a boil, it’s on to the infinity pool for a final dip alongside Toronto’s sexy skyline.

As night falls, it’s time to gussy up and live it up. We’re heading downstairs to the dimly-lit, luxurious hideaway that is 1812 Lounge for an upbeat evening of mingling with Toronto’s hottest crowd. The finest liquor is flowing and the city’s slickest DJs are spinning.

Last stop: a midnight snack. We’re craving comfort food and a stop-in at the twenty-four hour Thompson Diner is going to gratify our stomach after a hard day of R&R (… and cocktails). The Santa Fe Chicken Salad, or the Grilled Cheese Burger (our guilty pleasure) are the only things we’ll settle for.  Once we’re happily sated, it’s back up to our heaven away from home for lights-out. It’s a hard summer life, but someone’s got to do it.

Wondering where else we’re hanging out this summer? Take a look.
