For most, the idea of summer consists of hot sun, sandy beaches and the persistent roar of ocean waves. But instead of the overcrowded shores of Ft. Lauderdale and Daytona, you’ll find us in Miami Beach. We favor clear waters, lounge chairs, infinity pools with an ocean view, and only the best hand-crafted cocktails. With that in mind we’re headed across the Biscayne Bay and down Ocean Drive to Hotel Victor, our host and home for the evening.
You’ll know you’re in the right place once you catch a glimpse of that iconic, art deco façade – but as much as we’d like to linger and admire Hotel Victor’s design, we’ve got places to be and rays to catch. After checking in, it’s a beeline to our King Suite for a swift change of clothes. From our room we can see that sparkling pool and the vast Atlantic Ocean beyond. We’ve arrived, and now we’re ready to live it up, South Beach-style.
It’s moments before we’re on the second-floor pool deck, wide-eyed and taking in prime views of the ocean and some of South Florida’s finest eye candy. Plush, reclining lounge chairs and shaded cabanas are our playground; we’ve found ourselves smack in the middle of the best of both worlds, and we hope to never leave.
It’s not long until we give in to the heat, and jump in for a quick dip before ordering-up a cocktail or two. What’s to drink? Passage Bar’s Caipirinha, the perfect blend of Cabana Cachaça, muddled lime and sugar. We’re not quite ready to head back to the pool, so we’ve decided to satiate our appetites with light-casual fare from VUE Terrace. Great decision.
After a hard day of poolside lounging, we’re greeted with one of South Florida’s notorious afternoon thundershowers. But it doesn’t bother us. It’s the perfect excuse to escape to our room for a soak in the oversized marble bath, especially when there’s a Frette robe waiting for us. Really, this is preparation – we’ve got a full day of R&R at Spa V planned for tomorrow.
Until then, we’re stretching-out on our king bed and its crisp, custom Sferra linens. Goodnight Miami.
