Stephen Powers: A Word is Worth a Thousand Pictures

Art & Design

Prolific street artist and muralist Stephen Powers returns for his first NYC solo show in seven years with A Word is Worth a Thousand Pictures. Formerly painting under the monicker ESPO (Exterior Surface Painting Outreach), Powers recently gained widespread recognition for his series A Love Letter for You, a collection of murals in his hometown of Philadelphia, which he then expanded to Syracuse, New York, São Paulo, Brazil, and Vardo, Norway. His Love Letter for Brooklyn is similar, but reproduces the poetic memories of Brooklynite David Villorente. Powers’ sign work manifests here on numerous enamel on aluminum paintings, taking up the breadth of the gallery.
