Shop for your groovy pop at this trio of ‘heritage’-leaning specialty menswear spots.
1. Mohawk General Store: The totally-awesome Silverlake haberdasher just opened Mohawk Man, and it’s just the kind of place that sartorial sons and fathers can bond on, of all things, clothing shopping. We suggest buying dad some retro-vintage board shorts from M’Nii, like the Five-O Truck Board Shorts pictured here. Mohawkgeneralstore.net.
2. Confederacy: Named after the New Orleans-set classic “A Confederacy of Dunces,” this old-new-school outpost carries So-Cal Americana heritage, as well as brands ranging from Billy Reid to Band of Outsiders. Spring for the red sports jacket (pictured) from the latter. Make dad remember what a showboat he used to be at “the club.” firstname.lastname@example.org; 4661 Hollywood Blvd.
3. General Quarters: The Big Daddy of them all, this men’s heritage-themed specialty store and barber shop located on La Brea Avenue has it all, and it’s a lot of fun to just hang around in–not loiter, per se…GQ is now carrying Root Beauty products (hand creams, face moisturizers, etc.), which are dad-friendly-manly and right and just look damned good, despite the “beauty” part of it.
