Hesta Prynn Slips on the Vinyl

Liner notes

From California dreaming to a more New York state of mind, two chill play lists, courtesy of the Thompson Hotel’s deejay-in-residence, to mosey you through the steamiest of months.

As Thompson Hotels has what we call “star presence” on both magnificent coasts, we thought it would be fun to recruit one of our favorite DJs–one Hesta Prynn–to provide a summer soundtrack for L.A. and Manhattan.

Here’s a link to her groovin’ West Coast roll of 20 songs: Thompson Hotels: West Coast Represent

And here’s Hesta’s New York play list, which is more refreshing than an open fire hydrant: Thompson Hotels: East Coast Represent

In case you haven’t run into the vixen turntablist, who has ghost-written some pretty indelible hits, Ms. Prynn is famous for her acumen with vinyl record selects only. She’s been a Paper magazine columnist, MC of the all-girl hip-hop band Northern State, and, as a DJ, she’s opened for the likes of Frank Ocean, Kelis, and Fabolous, and performed with Jay-Z and Vampire Weekend. She’s also done Bonnaroo. Her client list includes Diane von Furstenberg, Nike, Vogue, Spotify, and Coke.

Crazy, right?

And now, well, Thompson Hotels, which always gets in bed with the right people.
