Chicago’s totally cooling-off rooftop bars.
Ever experienced summer in Chicago? It can be as sweltering as it gets. Get above it all is our advice. With some nudging by Time Out Chicago, here’s a few rooftop bars that look pretty chill.
American Junkie: Retractable second-floor rooftop says it all.
Joe’s Bar on Weed Street: Something different for a sports bar. Nice cedar booths on the 3,500-square-foot deck. It might get loud.
John Barleycorn River North: To be sure, the name is a mouthful, but it’s the mother of them all: 14,000 square feet of party-time, with a retractable glass roof that spans the whole shebang. Like living “Under the Dome.” (johnbarleycorn.com)
The dec Rooftop Lounge + Bar: Twelve stories up, on the rooftop of the Ritz, it’s a pretty mood-evocative spread, including fire pits! (decarestaurant.com)
