National Geographic, Richard Avedon, and more opens around LA.
Los Angeles has long been considered the city of reinvention, and by now its rebirth as a thriving arts mecca is well documented. Given the abundance of natural beauty, beautiful people, and well, paparazzi, it’s photography that’s stealing the spotlight of late. Train your lens on the best exhibitions the city has to offer, from a celebration of 125 years of National Geographic at the just-reopened Annenberg Space for Photography (on now through April 2014), to Richard Avedon’s “Women” at the Gagosian Beverly Hills, November 1st through December 21st. Come January, the city will honor its longest-running art fair, the 23rd annual Photo LA, in its new Downtown location. And in April, both the storied fair of modern and historical works, Paris Photo, and the commercial, fine art and photojournalistic showcase, Month of Photography LA (MOPLA), hit SoCal.
