Brand New in June/Chicago

Food & Drink

Kick-off the summer months with some brand-new Chicago openings popping up all around the city. These unique spots are sure to entice and will give that routine a much-needed break:

Kalla: It’s changing the game and it’s here to stay – Kalla, a luxury floral design service, started up business in Chicago on June 3rd, and it’s pinterest-inspired bouquets will leave your recipient breathless. Skip the national chains in favor of a keepsake vase and white glove delivery. Feeling extra posh? Throw in a bottle of wine for another $40. Bouquets start at $95 and the display alone says more than a simple dozen roses. Check out Kalla online or visit the pop-up shop in the 900 North Michigan Shops.

Max’s Wine Dive: So champagne and fried chicken aren’t a typical pairing, but Max’s Wine Dive isn’t a typical restaurant. It’s all about high and low pairings here, and it’s sure to change up how you take your meals. Other “dive” items include mac and cheese and oysters. But don’t think it isn’t gourmet; these dishes are made with truffle cream and aioli, respectively. Comfort food and world class wine have never tasted better. Find Max’s in Wicker Park at 1482 N. Milwaukee Ave.

The Throne Room: Is it a live-music joint or a pizza joint? How about a high-class version of both? The Throne Room, now open in Lakeview, feels like a modern speakeasy with an adjacent pizza parlor (Renaldi’s, to be exact) and a top-notch selection of craft beer and a wide selection of wine. With intimate live music every Friday and Saturday, The Throne Room is your new favorite cozy rock hall. Find it on the 2nd floor at 2831 N. Broadway.
