As the summer enters into its final month, Chicago is keeping it cool. Sunny weather and light breezes make it perfect for exploring some of the best new bars in town.
Lagunitas Taproom: Chicago is no stranger to breweries, so the buzz around the California import was palpable. Located in the unassuming Douglas Park and without a clear entrance, the taproom first seems like you’ve arrived at the wrong destination. But inside, bands play nightly to the 300-seat room, and the 16 rotating beer selections on tap are sure to entice even the pickiest of drinkers. Check it out at 1843 S. Washtenaw Ave.
Henry’s Swing Club: Changing up the pace in River North, this new restaurant and bar, courtesy of DMK Restaurants, offers cheap drinks, good pub food, and a more relaxed vibe than the usual clubs of downtown. The priciest cocktail tops off at $10, turning happy hour into happy hours. From craft beers to even craftier cocktails, Henry’s Swing Club is worth a visit. It’s now open at 18 W. Hubbard.
Kaiser Tiger: Where others have tried and failed, Kaiser Tiger brings together bacon and brews like no one else. There’s even a Bacon & Beer flight, pairing three cuts of bacon with three craft beers. There are 24 beers on draft, and it touts its selection of beers you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere in the city. Head on over to the Near West Side (1415 W. Randolph to be exact) and get your fix.
