Say hello to the famous 14-foot “Grandpa” alligator (from a safe distance)
If alligator wrestling, snakes, and airboat rides appeal to you (it’s not for everyone or every little person) then a visit to the Everglades Alligator Farm should satisfy all your reptilian curiosities.
More than two thousand alligators, a couple of Florida panthers and a number of exotic snakes make the oldest working alligator farm in the country a great outing for adventurous couples and families. If getting close to the gators is too scary for some, an observation deck gives a sweeping view of the landscape. Alligator wrestling and feedings are scheduled several times a day to thrill the kids. And all this is just 45 minutes from Miami.
Open daily from 9am to 6pm, 40351 SW 192 Avenue Homestead, FL 33034.
Bonus: The Everglades Alligator Farm does alligator loving so well that they provide eggs to other alligator farms around the state.
