17th Century Venice with a twist
Cavalli’s comedy L’Ormindo, about a sex-starved queen and her would-be lovers returns to the Globe after a successful sell-out debut. This coproduction between The Royal Opera and Shakespeare’s Globe takes place in the candle-lit Wanamaler Playhouse. The elaborate set is dripping with gold, the actors are heroically committed and the naughty (and very fun) story is as gripping as ever.
The Observer calls it ‘an evening of high-class, high-camp, high-art pleasure.’ L’Ormindo only runs through March 5th so get your tickets before they sell out here.
