An eye for art and a mind for commerce
Alexis Nido-Russo must be the busiest woman in Chicago—she’s constantly connecting artists with collectors as the Chicago Artists Coalition’s community partnerships manager, organizing art fairs, and bringing her exuberance and flair for art to events all over the city. One might think there’d be no room for more!
In November of 2013 she launched Local Eclectic, an e-commerce site that gives underrepresented designers, many who live in Chicago, a home to sell their wares. “I wanted to create a place to discover and shop emerging under the radar apparel and accessories designers,” says Nido-Russo, who has already evolved the concept and is re-launching the site next month. “We’ll continue to feature independent designers but we’re beefing things up a bit so stay tuned for exciting updates to come!”
Here we asked Alexis to design her dream day in Chicago—think art, food and nap time of course! Check out her six-step guide below and what she’s working on in 2015. Hint, it’s a new year’s resolution we should all take on board…
