Familiar objects made new
See the Out of Office exhibit at The Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art which runs now through Sept 6th. The five works in total include large-scale renderings of life’s often overlooked (and now obsolete objects), like scraps of paper and old computers– think all of those scrunched up receipts in your handbag.
By transforming commonplace objects like this through shifts in scale and unexpected uses of materials, these works raise questions about the increasingly prevalent role of economic transactions and technology in contemporary life.
This show will make you chuckle for sure. It’s all very meta! We suggest seeing it in conjunction with Alexander Calder exhibition on now.
