The stylist & creative juggernaut embraces Miami
Angeles Almuna’s life has always been about artistic expression. First through her love of dance—Spanish folklore, classical ballet, and Flamenco contemporary and Tango—and through her unique fashion blog.
Almuna is always looking for ways to fuse her love of art and fashion. Up next, she and her creative partner-in-crime Jhon Jairo Santos will be part of the Art Basel Issue of Brickell & Key Biscayne Magazine. She is also collaborating with Swarovski Crystal to create her second original piece—this time, a whimsical hat studded with extraordinary crystals.
Here Almuna reveals the biggest fashion trends in Miami right now, why white will always be hot, and more.
How does Miami inspire and inform your aesthetic?
Miami is open! You never feel like you are a foreigner. The diversity in Miami makes me feel like part of the city (now my home) and its this diversity that inspires me everyday. It’s such a pleasure to go out for a walk, sit in a cafe and hear all the different languages and see such different styles.
Art and fashion are also working together to create a city with more opportunities for creative people. Miami is more than beaches and nightclubs. My dream is to make this city more fashionable.
What are your three favorite places to hang in your neighborhood?
I am live in Miami Beach around Collins Ave and 31st. I can find everything I need in walking or biking distance. I love Cantina 27, an Italian Restaurant that’s become my second home. You can’t forget the beach for running, walking, yoga or meditation. It’s the place to be in Miami. A walk at sunset is the best therapy.
What on-the-street fashion trend is hot in Miami right now?
The color white and the flat gladiators. White, because is so chic and easy to wear during the day or at night. Flat gladiators are perfect with shorts and an oversized blouse. It’s a great effortless and modern look.
