Arresting Abstraction

Art & Design

From contemporary Australian Aboriginal artists

On September 17th a very special art event will take place at The Perez Art Museum in Miami. A vibrant opening reception (for all from 6:00pm to 7:30pm) will birth their newest exhibition No Boundaries: Aboriginal Australian Contemporary Abstract Painting.

This energizing show brings together the work of nine Aboriginal Australian artists: Paddy Bedford, Janangoo Butcher Cherel, Tommy Mitchell, Ngarra, Boxer Milner Tjampitjin, Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri, Tjumpo Tjapanangvka, Billy Joongoorra Thomas, and Prince of Wales (Midpul). Each of these men is a leader within their community and each man’s work relates to the cultural systems, religious beliefs, and social structures of Aboriginal life, while profoundly resonating with abstract painting of the 20th and 21st centuries.

There’ll be an art talk September 19th about the exhibition. We highly recommend this important and visually arresting show that will run from September 17th through January 3rd, 2016.
