Russia’s race to space revealed
For the first time ever, Russia’s space exploration program of the 1950s and 1960s will be examined at length in a new exhibition Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age at the Science Museum until March 13th, 2016.
You’ll be able to witness the most significant collection of Russian spacecraft and artefacts ever to be seen in the UK including the Vostok 6, the capsule flown by Valentina Tereshkova, the first ever woman in space, and the LK-3 Lunar Lander, a single cosmonaut craft built to compete with Apollo. Gadgets that the cosmonauts and pioneering space dogs needed to live in space, including a shower, toilet, medical instruments and survival kits for crash landings, will also be on display.
Be warned; the Soviet space dogs will capture your heart!
