The Best Way to Celebrate Chinese New Year
London’s annual Chinese New Year celebrations, the biggest in the world outside China, will bring Chinatown to life once again for 2016, the year of the monkey.
Chinese New Year is celebrated on February 8th but the main festivities in London take place in Central London (in Chinatown and the West End) on February 14th. Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally run from Chinese New Year’s Eve, the last day of the last month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar.
There will be spectacular parades across the city including Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Shaftesbury Avenue and of course Chinatown itself. To find out which events suits you, visit the London Chinatown Chinese Association for the full schedule of events.
