Healthy Italian and Colorful Décor at a NoLIta Restaurant
How can a restaurant bring something new to New York’s overwhelming dining scene? Sometimes, it can feel as though it’s all been done already. Ice cream rolls? Check. Vegetarian chic? Check. Foie gras donuts? Check. But the brand-new Pietro Nolita on Elizabeth Street is trying out a concept that feels fresh in both design and gustation. The restaurant, which opens this month, offers patrons a chic pink dining room and healthy Italian food. Owners Pietro Quaglia and Mina Soliman are planning lighter versions of old favorites, like pasta alla carbonara sans cream or branzino with pink peppercorn and lemon zest. Guests will enjoy the dishes in pink leather banquettes set against pink walls. Heads up—we can guarantee this place is going to be hip.
