Focus on Five Artists
Interested in collecting art but not sure where to start? Visit the Seattle Art Museum Gallery from now through February 1st to view “Start Now.” New work at accessible prices encourages visitors to investigate five new artists. Katie Anderson creates colorful, vivid paintings with oil and charcoal on canvas. Marita Dingus makes mixed media sculptures that resemble elaborate dolls. In the pop art tradition, Troy Gua creates bright prints that depict celebrities. Elizabeth Lopez’s work, though abstract, displays recognizable symbols like the stars and stripes from the American flag. Laura Van Horne’s ink and epoxy resin art looks like a lot of geodes got together and threw a party. Scope out your favorite among these five—or go home with pieces by a few of them!
