Next Stop, Wine Country
Ditch the city for the day and head out to a winery. Even the trip there can be exciting—take a train. On February 25th, the Tennessee Central Railway Museum is sponsoring a train ride out to DelMonaco Winery. Located along the Upper Cumberland Wine Train, the destination is the perfect spot to host an event, try a local merlot, and watch how wine is made. The winery’s 52 acre estate provides plenty of space to explore after a couple of glasses. Live music, lunch, and refreshments on the train itself make the journey as much a part of the experience as the destination. Of course, with this set up, no need to even worry about a designated driver. The conductor’s got you covered.
If it’s the train, not the booze, that catches your attention, check out the Museum itself this winter. The volunteer, non-profit organization preserves, restores, interprets, and operates historic railroad equipment and provides education about America’s railroads. Check out a nostalgia-inducing assortment of passenger cars, cabooses, freight cars, and locomotives.
