Celebrate Flamenco
Time is running out to enjoy the Chicago Flamenco Festival. Presented by the Instituto Cervantes, the 15th iteration of this annual celebration offers unique cultural opportunities until March 25th. Need a primer on flamenco? Click here for the history and techniques that make the Spanish dance so iconic.
On March 24th and 25th, Isaac de los Reyes (dancer) and Amparo Heredia (singer) perform with two instrumentalists at Instituto Cervantes. A child of major dancers and choreographers, de los Reyes made his debut at just age 13. Purchase tickets here. If you’d like to give the dance form a try for yourself, attend a flamenco master class with Alba Heredia, an award-winning dancer who trained in elite courses in Madrid.
Check out the Institute’s other offerings as well. A variety of Spanish classes, support for Spanish language and culture researchers, and cultural activities are always available. This spring, the Institute will screen films and present an exhibition of photographed insects.
