A Weekend of Local Fare
Seattle foodies: March is your month. From wine tastings to a farm tour, Taste Washington is offering fabulous events in addition to a major expo to, yes, cater to your epicurean needs. This year, the celebration turns 20 years old and celebrates with its most extensive offerings ever. From March 23-26, over 300 wineries and 70 restaurants will converge on Seattle for the events.
The Grand Tasting itself, the two-day tasting at the center of the festivities, takes place at CenturyLink Field. 235 Washington wineries, 65 restaurants, and both local and national chefs will offer their goodies. Interested in both creative and traditional baked items? Check out Grand Central Baking Company. Classy wine bars more your speed? Purple Cafe and Wine Bar will be exhibiting. And there are far too many wine options to name. And—don’t forget to stop by the Thompson Seattle booth.
For something a little more intimate, buy a ticket to the Red & White party on March 23rd at AQUA by El Gaucho on the waterfront. Special wines, bites, and elegant attire will make the evening memorable (as long as you don’t go overboard on the wine). If you just want to nerd out with some experts, check out one of the many seminars on wine. From “Hell and High Water: How Geologic Forces and Catastrophes Shaped Washington Wine” to “Washington vs. The World! Old World, New World, Our World,” talks by Ph.D.s and sommeliers will heighten your knowledge of the beverage and allow you to sample some yourself.
