After a winter indoors, one of the best ways to enjoy the fresh spring air is to hit a rooftop bar. In Chicago, there’s no shortage. You can find one of the best, though, at GreenRiver—along with some stellar food and drinks. The Michelin-starred restaurant features a gorgeous outdoor terrace to the city’s Streeterville neighborhood. It’s also a collaboration between some of New York City’s biggest names in hospitality: Danny Meyer (whose Union Square Hospitality Group is famous for its phenomenal service) and Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon, who run the sexy Manhattan bar The Dead Rabbit. Expect to be treated well, with some delectable treats. The chef himself is a native: Aaron Lisette grew up in the city and previously worked at the city’s restaurants Celeste and Acadia. Head to the roof and enjoy some oysters and a refreshing cocktail from an extensive list separated by alcohol ingredient (agave, juniper, grape & apple, etc.). It’s basically the equivalent of doing the sun dance to usher in cloudless skies.
