Whatever your beliefs, Parroquia San José (San Jose del Cabo Church) merits a stop for its gorgeous architecture. Tiled murals and floors, stained glass windows, beautiful landscaping, surrounding stone, and a simple yet elegant facade all merit aesthetic attention. With palm trees waving in the breeze just outside the church, the gracious plaza make for great photo ops.
Right in the middle of the historic downtown district, the church is accessible to individuals and groups. If you’re interested in learning more about the history or the area’s (at times violent) Jesuit missionary past, ask about guided tours. The church is, of course, also open for mass if you’re interested in attending along with the local Catholic community on Sundays. During the holiday season, you can also enjoy singing and drama groups performing on the plaza.
