An Annual Arts Fete

The last weekend in August, Bucktown offers Chicagoans a final summer hurrah in the form of an art festival.

On August 26th and 27th, the Bucktown Arts Fest at Holstein Park will exhibit work by 175 artists (handpicked by a jury) at individual booths. Ceramics, photography, cards, prints, jewelry, woodcrafts, and more will all be on offer. The 32-year-old celebration began when four neighborhood artists decided to throw a picnic in the park where they could also show their work. The Fest retains a casual, local, DIY energy—it’s entirely volunteer run, and all proceeds fund arts education. Accompanying the fair, a variety of neighborhood musical acts will entertain guests with blues and bluegrass, jazz and indie rock. Food trucks are on hand to quench all mid-festival munchies.
