Unwind With Smooth Sounds
Louis Armstrong once said, “If you have to ask what jazz is, you’ll never know.” Listen, we’re not musicologists ourselves. If you pressed us for a definition, we might have some trouble telling you distinctly, and definitively, what defines the genre. But we know it—and enjoy it—when we hear it. It’s a perfect sound for hazy summer days, lounging outside and drinking wine.
Rediscover jazz yourself, and enjoy summer while you still can, at the 20th Annual Markham Jazz Festival. From August 16th–20th, three main stages at Main Street Unionville offer more than 30 concerts with free admission to all outdoor events. Shows will spill into surrounding streets, bars, and restaurants. On August 19th, David Clayton-Thomas (former lead singer of Blood, Sweat & Tears and a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame & Songwriter’s Hall of Fame) headlines the festival, playing from 9:00-10:30 PM at Millennium Bandstand.
