Can’t wait until October for Oktoberfest-level beer indulgence? That’s all right, Chicago’s got your back. On September 16th, the Independence Park Beer Fest brings breweries, food trucks, and live music to the Irving Park neighborhood. While the weather’s still nice, fill up a few steins on the green. It’s also an excellent opportunity to check out a bunch of local beers, all in one place.
Alarmist Brewing, which has a taproom north of the city, will be on-site. We’re hoping they bring their Alternative Facts, a Belgian blonde ale (description: “Not sad! Happy!”). Band of Bohemia, the first Michelin rated brewpub, will also offer their libations. Or, try out Dovetail Brewery, which proclaims, “we brew like monks (minus the vows).” The Chicago-born brewers met in Munich while studying beer and returned to their hometown to start their own joint.
