Functional and Fun
Looking for a bowl shaped like a wave? A unique objet made by woodturners? The outdoor sculpture that’ll work perfectly in your garden? At SOFA (Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design) Chicago, find it all. From 3D-printed furniture to contemporary mosaics, the offerings will be on display at Navy Pier from November 2nd-5th.
Exhibitors range from New York-based Heller Gallery (which has previously sold work to London’s Victoria & Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art) to Montreal’s Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h, which has been selling fine art jewelry for over 25 years. Other galleries hail from New Mexico (Blue Rain), St. Louis (Duane Reed Gallery), and San Francisco (the McLoughlin Gallery). SOFA is an excellent opportunity to see so many far-flung, high-design purveyors in one place.
Check out the special exhibits, which include a film screening and a glass presentation, as well as the lectures and talks—you can watch a glass demo and attend a book launch.
