A Forest Alight
For the month of December, Morton Arboretum fills with holiday lights and illuminated flora. The Illumination experience features projections in the woods, which spruce up the arboretum’s celebrated tree collections. When you get cold, warming and concession tents will be on hand. Depending on when you go, you’ll be able to enjoy a specialty beverage. The first week of December, whet your whistle with a hot apple toddy. The second week, indulge in a hot chocolate, peppermint liquor, whipped cream and crushed peppermint concoction. A warm spiced hot chocolate awaits the third week, and the month of drinks closes out strong with a red hot cider (spiked with Fireball).
This year, the experience is especially interactive. Visitors can pick up Illu-medallions in the concession tents, which synchronize with the light around the wearer. The mile-long pathway offers a multitude of delights, set to selections from The Nutcracker. Plan for a magical evening.
