On April 21st, celebrate Record Store Day. The festivities span six continents and honor the independent record stores around the world. The annual events, which first occurred in 2008, include cook-outs, artist meet-and-greets, parades, performances, body painting, DJ spinning, and more.
The event site lists 14 participating retailers throughout Nashville. Hit Alison’s Record Shop for vintage vinyl. Run by a passionate couple, the shop replaces the city’s well-loved Nicholson’s Hi-Fi, which shuttered in 2006. Head to The Groove for a real party: dance along to live music, starting at noon. Food and beverages are on hand to fuel the fun. Another option: Grimey’s. Enjoy an all-day outdoor concert, giveaways, and a sidewalk sale. Foodies need not fear: gourmet food trucks will serve BBQ and sloppy joes for some seriously indulgent eats.
