Reel Summer Fun

This summer, transport yourself to global metropolises via the big screen. From June 24th to August 19th, the Christie Pits Film Festival serves up a different film each week, screened at Christie Pits Park. The sloping lawn provides plenty of room to spread out a blanket and enjoy a picnic: so much better than movie theater popcorn. This season, enjoy Spike Lee’s classic Do the Right Thing (New York), John Waters’s kooky Hairspray (the opening night feature, filmed in Baltimore), and the ever-charming Amélie (Paris, of course). As the sun sets, enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors while you absorb the entertaining artifice. Founded in 2011, the Festival brings Toronto’s neighbors and visitors together over cinema in a shared green space.
