It’s Back, and Bigger Than Ever
Only in its fourth iteration, the Seattle Art Fair has already become a huge event. This year you can expect 100 gallery owners, including international titans such as David Zwirner, Gagosian, and Pace, and more visitors than you can fit in a sports stadium. The largest arts event in the Pacific Northwest, the fair not only brings together the region’s strong collector base but now attracts art-lovers from all over the world.
Perhaps to reflect how big the fair has gotten, there will be giant robots and 14-foot puppets on display, as well as art for all budgets. As Artistic Director Nate Thompson puts it, the theme for this year’s fair is the idea that “we have always been, loving and fearful, robots.” As such, throughout the weekend there will be talks concerning the relationship between our selves, pasts, identities, and technology, and how tech links us to the planet we inhabit.
Once again, Thompson Seattle is the official hotel sponsor of SAF, so if you’re thinking of making a last-minute trip for the art you can book your room here or join us for cocktails on the roof and dinner at Scout PNW.
