Eat, Drink, and Revel
There’s perhaps no better month than September to enjoy a meal or beer in open air and good company in Chicago. Which perhaps explains all the food and beer festivals this month. Here are three you shouldn’t miss.
Chicago Gourmet returns to Millennial Park on September 28th and 29th for a weekend-long tasting party with lots of fancy chef demos. Although we don’t encourage gluttony, the price of entry includes all the snacks and drinks you can consume so come with an appetite. Tickets are still available for Sunday’s entry and some of the ancillary events, including the “Hamburger Hop,” a burger party on September 26th.
Drive-By Truckers, The Hold Steady, and TV on the Radio headline the 312 Block Party, a two-day street party running September 21st to 22nd outside Goose Island’s brewery on Canal Street. The event is free (although they ask that you donate to a local charity at the entrance) and it’s subject to capacity so get there early.
When else do you get to wear lederhosen? This year marks 17 years of Oktoberfest celebrations at St. Alphonsus, an iconic church in West Lakeview.
