Willie Nelson and Friends

When does a music event become a cultural event? When it features a hometown hero and living legend. On January 12th, Bridgestone Arena hosts Willie: Life and Songs of an American Outlaw, A Willie Nelson All Star Celebration.

One of the most recognized artists in country music, Nelson was also a core figure in its development, along with contemporaries like Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. A direct reaction to the reigning “Nashville sound” of the early sixties, Nelson’s music pioneered “outlaw country,” which remains the country music genre’s defining sound.

Norah Jones, Lyle Lovett, Jack Johnson, Steve Earle, and many more artists pay tribute to Willie Nelson, who also performs himself. A once-in-a-lifetime show in the artist’s adopted hometown, this event is not to be missed.
