A Portal to the Arts World
He might be local, but gallerist Daniel Faria is represented at all the major international art fairs. He brings the art world to Toronto—and, in turn, helps propel emerging and established Canadian artists. Faria’s namesake gallery has hosted group exhibitions including works of art by Douglas Coupland, one of the biggest names in contemporary Canadian art.
The gallery currently houses Bomb. Shell., a solo exhibition of collage, tapestries, and sculptures by Shannon Bool. Represented in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and The Saatchi Collection, London, this exhibition represents Bool’s critical interpretation and reimagining of the modernism of Le Corbusier and Picasso.
Set among a strip of industrial buildings, the gallery is a bright contemporary space around which a whole host of smaller galleries have popped up. It’s well worth strolling around the neighborhood to explore this burgeoning new arts scene.
Bomb. Shell. runs until January 19th.
