Celebrate the Year of the Pig

If  you’ve already fallen short on some of your New Year’s resolutions, here’s a chance to make good: February 5th marks the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar and the beginning of the Year of the Pig. And Toronto offers a couple of great options to celebrate the traditional way.

The Chinese New Year Celebration Gala, held by Canada National TV, takes place on February 4th. Boasting a host of Chinese and Western artists, this is the largest overseas event marking the Chinese New Year.

If a midweek gala is too much, but you still want to dress up, join the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation on February 9th for the 30th annual Dragon Ball, a black-tie event featuring a lavish four-course feast.

Prefer a less formal celebration? There’s entertainment scheduled on the evening of February 4th at the Pacific Mall, the largest indoor Chinese shopping center in North America.
