Every year, Yorkville transforms into a glittering open-air gallery of ice sculptures for the Bloor-Yorkville Icefest. Paying homage to Toronto’s contribution to the film industry, this year’s theme is Hollywood North. Over 700,000 pounds of ice will be carved into sculptures inspired by the film industry. Beyond the zillions of photo opportunities, the festival also promises a patio lounge with refreshments and hot drinks.
If you make it to the Icefest on Saturday afternoon, you’ll have a chance to watch an ice-carving competition. Enormous blocks of ice will be transformed, as delicately as is possible, with a chainsaw.
To keep your blood flowing (and to possibly win a coveted prize worth $1,000), take part in the free scavenger hunt. Just visit the Bloor-Yorkville BIA Tent on Bellair Street for clues!
