Museum Mile Gets Wild
The mile-long stretch of Fifth Avenue known as “Museum Mile” hardly recommends itself as party central. Once a year, however, it lets loose. On June 11th, from 82nd to 105th street, Central Park’s eastern flank turns into NYC’s largest block party.
Now in its 41st year, Museum Mile Festival flings open the doors of eight museums including The Met, The Guggenheim, and the Museum of the City of New York. Inside, explore the special exhibitions without charge, enjoy live music, and participate in art-making workshops. Head to The Met at 6:30pm for a truly unique performance: six ballroom competitors will participate in the ultimate dance-off a voguing competition. Outside, there’ll be a street market, performers, and a bustling crowd.
