Best Plan for a Wednesday

Now in its tenth year, Open Roof Festival is a series of film-centered gatherings boasting live music and a festive atmosphere. Running weekly until August 21st, it’s your best bet for a Wednesday night in Toronto.

This year’s schedule delivers stellar local music and a curated selection of indie movies you might have missed earlier in the year, such as Long Shot, a rom-com-political-satire hybrid starring Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron. The festival kicked off on June 19th with an outdoor performance by funk band Yuka and a screening of Jordan Peele’s new movie, Us. And there are sure to be more epic evenings in store.

Music starts at 8pm, screenings at 9pm, with food and drink available earlier and throughout night. The festival’s name might be deceptive—all screenings and performances take place on the ground—but it does take place under an open sky, so dress accordingly.
