Nashville by the Water

Editor's Picks

Not Your Average Tour

Nashville might be landlocked but there’s still plenty of fun to be had on the water. River Queen Voyages exists to help you do so. Founder Annie Klaver’s dream of reconnecting her city with nature led to a successful Indiegogo campaign. In 2015, River Queen was born and began renting out canoes for self-guided kayaking tours.

River Queen runs three routes: the shorter, three-mile route has a more urban feel, culminating in a view of the Nashville skyline from a unique and gorgeous vantage point. If you have more time to spare and want to get closer to nature, the five-mile paddle from Opryland to Shelby Park offers more pastoral scenery, including a heron rookery and a field of horses who often drink from the water. For a longer sight-seeing workout, you can combine the two. Either way, you’ll pass by gems of Nashville history and work your biceps. Tours run seven days a week through October.
