A Storied Bakery

Eating Around

Donuts with Soul

Five Daughters’ Bakery has a fabled beginning: in 2015, Isaac and Stephanie Meek quit their corporate jobs in NYC to return home to Nashville and concentrate on their true love: donuts. Their shop pays tribute to family: Isaac is a third-generation baker and, like the name suggests, the couple have five daughters.

They’ve turned donut-making into an art. Made with organic and locally-sourced ingredients, their recipes change monthly and seasonally, and, so far, they’ve tried over 300 flavor combinations. Some of them are surprising: you might find vanilla butter cream filling inside a maple glazed ring donut. Crafted over three whole days, their signature 100-layer donut is the ultimate croissant-donut hybrid, featuring croissant-like layers of pastry that are rolled in sugar, stuffed with cream, then glazed in the flavor of the month. With a stylish interior, it’s great for breakfast, a snack, or an indulgent treat.
