That Time of Year
You can trust Chicago to kick off the holiday season in style. Each year, the stores of Michigan Avenue signal the start of the gift giving and togetherness the only sensible way: with forty floats topped with giant helium-filled balloons and the most beloved Christmas characters.
Now in its 28th year, Chicago’s annual Light Festival will brighten the Magnificent Mile with the glow of one million lights hung on 200 trees, as well as a two-hour tree-lighting parade helmed by two iconic masters of ceremony: Minnie and Mickey Mouse. Expect culinary treats, musical performances, and other fun, starting Friday, November 22nd, culminating with the parade, which sets off from Oak Street at 5:30pm on Saturday 23rd. Make sure to head to the river by 6:55pm to catch the spectacular firework display that highlights the evening!
