An Athletic Day Trip

A short ferry ride from Playa, the beautiful island of Cozumel makes for an easy, eye-pleasing day trip. As if you needed an excuse to visit, the Ironman 70.3 competition takes place on November 24th.

To complete this extreme triathlon, participants will cycle the periphery of the entire island three times, run a 26-mile lap past Mayan ruins, and swim a 2.6-mile course alongside the ocean. While there’s still time to register, we suggest marveling at these feats of human athleticism from the sidelines, a cocktail in hand.

Given the length of these endeavors, it’s fair to say the competition will be operating as an all-day affair. Since you’ll be in Cozumel already, consider chartering a boat and scuba-diving in the surrounding waters—with 14 miles of reefs and gorgeous turquoise waters, it’s the perfect place to do it. Then ride the ferry home and enjoy a cocktail with us—a well-earned cap to an active, exhilarating day.
