Ex-Hickey Freeman designer Aaron Levine moves to Rogues Gallery. We like his style.
Sartorial genius Aaron Levine carved out a name for himself while designing Hickey, the hip men’s line from Hickey Freeman that never quite got the attention it deserved. Having parted ways with them he has now landed a gig as design director for Rogues Gallery, the Maine-based, nautical-inspired label founded by former L.L. Bean designer Alex Carleton. His first collection for Rogues, for Fall/Winter 2010, is a well-tailored, tweedy interpretation of north woods Maine, outdoorsy style. His goal, achieved we’d say, is to make “masculine clothing that isn’t precious” – stuff you can wear until it gets holes in it, then wear some more. Amen to that.
