J. Crew brings back the original preppy handbook.
“Take Ivy,” with photos by T. Hayashida, was released way back in 1965 (in Japanese).Boasting a huge cult following, original editions sell for thousands of dollars on eBay. For the re-launch of the book, J.Crew has printed 300 limited-edition copies in a special slide case (and 700 copies of the standard copies of the book). This is the first time that the tome has been available in English. The limited edition will be sold in select J.Crew mens shops and at www.jcrew.com. Described by The New York Times as “a treasure of fashion insiders, ‘Take Ivy’ is a collection of candid photographs shot on the campuses of America’s elite, Ivy League universities. The series focuses on men and their clothes, perfectly encapsulating the unique academic fashion of the era.”
